Special Needs

People with physical, developmental, learning and mental health challenges enjoy opportunities for social, recreational, and intellectual growth at Striar JCC. Our high quality programs feature low student-teacher ratios, and emphasize inclusion and increased levels of functioning leading to greater independence.

Parenting Seminars

The Special Needs Services Department offers educational seminars in the Fall and Spring for educators, human service providers and families of people with special needs.

Jewish Holiday Celebrations

Supported by the Esther Martus Snidman and Rebecca Beryl Martus Snidman Memorial Judaic Fund, these interactive family programs bring the warmth of Jewish holiday celebrations to every Jewish child, regardless of ability.

Interpretive Services

Interpreters can be present to interpret JCC community programs for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.Contact Judy Pearl, (617) 558-6508 (voice), (617) 965-5175 (TTY), or for fees and availability.

Volunteers and Student Interns

Adults and high school students are invited to volunteer in Striar JCC's programs for people with special needs. Training and supervision are provided, and positions are available in both individual and group settings. Student internships may be used to fulfill community service requirements.
